The idea for a memorial to the Garveston 12 was thanks to Michael Garrod, a local resident who was a child when the crash occurred. He remembers the scene in the aftermath of the crash and proposed the dedication of a memorial to those who died.
A memorial plaque was dedicated on the 6th of June, 2012 in the open space of the Garveston Village Hall. The cost of the memorial has been met by the generous contributions of the people of Garveston and the surrounding villages as well as surviving relatives of the Garveston 12.
