Many people have helped with the Garveston 12 Memorial project and this list is merely a beginning.
The memorial unveiling ceremony in June of 2012 was made exceptional by the large contribution from the United States Airforce 48th Fighter Wing based at RAF Lakenheath and most particularly, the United States Air Attaché Col. Sonny Blinkensop. We are grateful for the attendance of Col. Richard Armstrong, Capt. Brent Peterson and Capt. Kathleen Dell from the 492nd Fighter Squadron as well as Capt. Joseph Fisher, the Chaplin of the 48th Fighter Wing. An impressive Honor Guard consisting of Senior Airman Joseph Bell, Senior Airman Wilburt Warner and Airman First Class Aaron Lee was led by Staff Sgt. Kip Holmstead. Our thanks also go out to the staff of the 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Department including Suzanne Harper and Staff Sgt. Robert Linch.
Web Site: Those who have given help, initial graphics and vital information include Dave and Paul Arnett, web masters of the quite extraordinary 492nd Bomb Group web site as well as Michael McCoy with his Everytown web site who provided a lot of contacts and information.
Credits to those, primarily living relatives, who have provided material, both informative and pictorial can be found on the relevant profile page. However, we must make a special thanks to Bob Meli who took on a single-minded mission to track down living relatives of 1st Lt. Raymond Sachtleben and succeeded brilliantly when we had given up hope.
